About Us heading

On March 30, 2008, Co-Director Bob Davis was interviewed about the Electric Bass Circuit, by Jerry Cripp, on the Outdoor Connection with Jerry Cripp radio show, WONE 980 AM, Dayton's Sports Station.

The interview contains some very good information about the Electric Bass Circuit. Activate the player below, to listen to the entire interview.

Tournament bass fishing has come a long way; it has become "Big Time", and a big expense. Sleek fiberglass bass boats with their big motors has made tournament bass fishing a major investment of time, and money.

With expense in mind, Dave Riesinger and Bob Davis initiated a tournament bass fishing circuit for small boats. A small boat, (14 feet or shorter), low cost, (electric trolling motors only), bass fishing circuit. Thus, was born the "Electric Bass Circuit."

Tournament Directors, Dave Riesinger, Sam Cook, Tom Patrick, and Bob DavisThe first Electric Bass Circuit tournament season began in 2002. Membership was low, as expected, but has steadily increased each season.

Our tournament entry fee is only $30 per team (boat). There is a 100% Payback at point tournaments, and the last payout place at non-point tournaments will be applied to prizes for the Classic. There's an optional $5.00 per team Big Bass pot. All entry fees collected at the start of the day are paid back at the end of the day (after weigh-in).  We keep the payout's small so more teams can receive a payout for their efforts. The top 25% or more of the field will receive a cash prize.

Last season (2007) we averaged 15.9 boats per tournament, excluding non-point tournaments. We would like to average 20+ boats per tournament.

Up to now our growth has mostly been by word-of-mouth. That's how Bob Davis met Tom Patrick. Tom overheard Bob promoting the Electric Bass Circuit; Tom liked what he heard Bob saying about the tournaments, and began fishing the circuit right away. Good thing too, because Tom became the Electric Bass Circuit Webmaster.

Our tournament members have a variety of boats, aluminum, fiberglass, and plastic, Boat on trailerranging in lengths from 8 feet to 14 feet. Most boats are hauled to the tournaments on trailers, while some are loaded and hauled   in truck beds. You don't have to own a big truck with a tow package to fish our tournaments. Many small boats do not come equipped with a livewell. Aerated livewell's are mandatory for Electric Bass Circuit tournament members. Some of our members have built-in livewell's on their boat, Large cooler with Fish-Saver aeratorsome purchased livewell's that are not built-in, and many have makeshift   livewell's. Coolers or Rubbermaid containers make great livewell's. Add an inexpensive aerator, such as a Fish-Saver aerator, cost approximately $20, and you're all set. During the hot-weather months we bring extra ice, frozen bottles of water, etc. to maintain a comfortable water temperature for the bass in our livewell's. Using a chemical such as "Please Release Me" is also recommended.

Preparing to start a night tournamentAll money collected is paid back to the entrants after the weigh-in. We do not keep any of the money. Our profit comes from the joy of competitive bass fishing with a great group of guys and gals who love to bass fish as much as we do.
